French exports to third countries increased by 34% overall. Exports to other European Union countries also increased, although to a lesser extent (+1.4%). For Italy, the main destination for French pork, exports fell by 5%, while for the United Kingdom they rose by 7%.
Total sales by volume for French operators increased by 9.6% for fresh and frozen pork (+ 45 000 t) and 4.7% (+ 6 000 t) for offal. Exports of fat increased by 38.6%. Finally, cured, smoked, prepared, and preserved pork, presented a relatively stable situation with an increase in export volume of 1.1%.
Overall, France's export turnover for all pork products is estimated at 1.6 billion euros in 2019 (including viscera), an increase of 262 million euros (+ 19.9%) compared to 2018. In fact, the increase in volumes (+9.4%) is accompanied by a "price effect" that reinforces this development.
