Several German slaughterhouses have decided to close temporarily because of their workers contracting COVID-19, which is the case for the Westfleisch slaughterhouse in Coesfeld (North Rhine-Westphalia), that employs 1,200 workers.

Additionally, the Vion plant in Bad Bramsdet (Schleswig-Holstein) halted production by adding a holiday period after finding more than 50 positive cases among the 260 slaughterhouse employees. Vion will redirect the slaughter of animals to its other plants.
