According to preliminary data from the Federal Agricultural Information Center (BZL), average meat consumption in Germany was slightly higher compared to the previous two years, at 53.2 kg/person (2022: 52.8 and 2023: 52.9 kg/person).

In 2024 pork was again the most consumed meat with 28.4 kg per capita (-100 g compared to 2023). The popularity of poultry meat increased again, rising by 500 g to 13.6 kg per capita, especially due to chicken meat. Beef consumption remained stable at 9.3 kg per capita despite the rise in consumer prices.

Overall, meat consumption in 2024 totaled 4.44 million tons, 0.8% more than the previous year.
