Germany - Stock of pigs markedly up by 1.4%

There are some 26.9 million pigs in Germany– this is a result of the livestock survey of 3 November 2010.

As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the stock of pigs thus rose by some 360,000 animals or 1.4% in the last 6 months. The number of young pigs rose especially markedly, that is, by 9.6% to 6.2 million animals.
