Due to the high number of cases of COVID-19 at the Weidemark (Tönnies) slaughterhouse in Sögel, the district of Emsland ordered the gradual closure of its activity, ceasing slaughter on Friday, October 9 and processing on Sunday, October 11. The closure of the company is initially planned for a period of 22 days (until November 3).

The company Weidemark has filed an appeal against the closure order with the Osnabrück Administrative Court.
