According to final data, Germany had approximately 21.3 million pigs as of November 3, 2024, a nearly constant figure compared to the same period in 2023 (+0.3% or 68,600 animals).
Finishing pigs accounted for 46.1% of the inventory, with 9.8 million animals, an increase of 250,100 pigs (+2.6%) compared to November 2023. In addition, 6.3 million piglets and 3.7 million young pigs were recorded. Compared to November 2022, the total pig inventory has decreased by 0.3% (74,000 fewer animals).

The number of pig farms in Germany stood at 15,700, which represents a drop of 3.2% (500 fewer farms) compared to November 2023. In November 2022, there were 16,900 farms, which means that over the last two years the number has fallen by 7.6% (1,300 fewer farms).
