According to a report by Euromonitor, in 2014, global fresh meat consumption grew 3% in volume terms to reach 225 million tonnes.
- Poultry, with 38% of the total quota, is the most popular type of meat worldwide followed by beef/veal.
- In China, demand for beef and veal has been stronger than pork.
- Consumption of fresh meat declined in both Western Europe and the United States.
