Pig slaughter increased by 2.5% last year in the Brazilian state of Goiás, according to the Quarterly Animal Slaughter Survey released on March 15 by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
In 2022, the pig slaughter broke historical records at both the state and national levels. (The historical series started in 1997.) Goiás slaughtered more than two million head of pigs. Brazil as a whole slaughtered 56.2 million head - an increase of 5.9% compared to 2021.
