  • Pig slaughter growth: Pig slaughter reached 6,190,195 head in 2024, reflecting a 7.2% growth compared to 2023.
  • Increase in pork production: Pork production in 2024 reached 608,752 tons, representing an increase of 7.8% compared to the previous year.
  • Production value was estimated at COP 7.83 trillion, an increase of 7.5% compared to the previous year.
  • Regional concentration of production: Approximately 74% of the national production was concentrated in Antioquia, Cundinamarca, and Valle del Cauca.
  • Growth by department: All departments, except Risaralda, showed positive growth rates in pork production.
  • Increase in imports: Preliminary imports reached 165,822 tons, an increase of 19.2% compared to 2023.
  • Increase in apparent consumption: Estimated apparent consumption for 2024 was 774,574 tons, reflecting a 10% increase over the previous year.
  • Origin of consumption: It is estimated that 79% of apparent consumption comes from domestic production, while the remaining 21% corresponds to imports.
  • Increase in per capita consumption: Per capita consumption was estimated at 14.7 kg/inhabitant in 2024, with a year-on-year increase of 8.9%.
  • The live pig price averaged COP 9660/kg in 2024, a slight decrease of 0.3% compared to the previous year's average.
  • Reduction in feed prices: In 2024, average prices for swine feed decreased by approximately 9.1% compared to 2023.
