The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food (MAGA) is intensifying its efforts to achieve official recognition of Guatemala as a country free of classical swine fever (CSF) by the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH).

Key strategies have been implemented to achieve this certification, including serological sampling on farms, epidemiological surveillance, and strengthening biosecurity measures. Controls have been intensified at airports using canine pairs to prevent the entry of pathogens.

Another fundamental pillar of the process is the traceability of the swine sector, which involves registration and monitoring of swine production, transportation, and marketing units, ensuring compliance with biosecurity protocols.
