During the first nine months of year 2012, the Dutch exports of fresh and frozen pig meat have fallen by 16.5% with respect to the same period during year 2011. This fall is partly due to the decrease in meat production and the increase in the exports of live pigs.
Although the exports to the EU countries fell by more than 100,000 tons (20%), with important reductions in the shipments to Italy (-21,000 tons; -19%) and the United Kingdom (-19,000 tons; -31%), the exports to third countries recorded a slight increase of a bit more than 3,000 tons.
