According to the Foreign News bulletin published by the Ministry of Agriculture of Spain, the European Commission has accepted an exception to the Nitrates Directive for The Netherlands for the period 2014-2017, so in the short term, the European Commission will present a formal decision for its abolition.
So, the agricultural entrepreneurs will be able to make use of this exception and will be able to apply for it during the period that goes from 1 May to 13 June in the National Register of the Entrepreneurial Agency of The Netherlands (www.rvo.nl).
Dutch farmers will be able to use, instead of 170 kg of slurry or manure nitrogen per hectare during years 2014-2017, 250 or 230 (depending on the location) kg of nitrogen per hectare and year.
