By the end of 2016, the Hondurans will have consumed some 95 million pounds of pork due to an market increase by 12-15% in comparison with 2015, according to the data of the pig production sector.
Mr. Flavio Tinoco, president of the National Association of Pig Producers of Honduras said that this year, the national production has risen “approximately by 15%, and the consumption by 12-15%, and between 90 and 95 pounds of pork will be consumed”.
Pig production is made of some 5,000 producers, between medium- and small-scale technical producers. Mr. Tinoco claimed that the deficit of the demand has fallen from 67% to 64% this year.
