According to Secretary for Food and Health, the Hong Kong Government is very concerned about the quality of imported meat and poultry products from Brazil following the investigation of the Brazilian authorities. The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) has been in very close contact with the Brazilian authorities in an attempt to obtain the relevant information of the problematic products as well as details about the batch of these problematic products.

Up to this moment, the Government cannot obtain comprehensive information in this regard. Therefore, for safety's sake, the CFS has imposed a ban on all Brazilian (frozen and chilled) meat and poultry meat for the time being. Hong Kong have also strengthened the surveillance at both the import and retail levels.
