In a final report submitted to the OIE, Hong Kong notifies that foot and mouth disease events of serotype O having started in February 2010 are resolved.

Historically, the serotype prevalent in Hong Kong has been and continues to be serotype O. However, the results that returned at the end of March indicated that the topotype had changed from Cathay to Southeast Asia topotype, which is considered as a variation in the strain.
