Inauguration of the Vietnam Pig Industry Operation

More than 50 scientists, managers, businessmen, and manufacturers attended the launching event of the Vietnam Pig Operation (VPO), marking a turning point in promoting the sustainable development of the pig industry in Vietnam.

At the event, stakeholders decided December 12, 2024 as the official inauguration date of VPO. The Managing Board comprises 13 members, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Vo Anh Khoa (Senior Consultant, Vietnam University of Forestry in Dong Nai) as the Chairman.

The VPO has also approved its principles and goals. Accordingly, the VPO is a voluntary organization established by organizations and individuals operating in the fields of science, production, business and services in the pig industry nationwide for the purposes of (i) inviting unifying members, (ii) Protecting members’ legitimate rights and interests and (iii) Supporting and sharing resources (materials, knowledge, and finance), and being responsible for helping each other improve labor efficiency as well as improving the quality, value, and competitiveness of the Vietnamese pig industry in domestic and foreign markets.

The VOP focuses on promoting science and technology activities, training, production support, trade promotion, research, and project development within the pig industry.

In the first 6 months of 2025, the VPO will organize 02 science and technology activities, targeting the pig industry community: (i) Seminar on African Pig Fever Vaccine: Current Status and Potential on March 23rd, 2025. 2025 in Dong Nai, and (ii) The 1st Vietnam Conference on Pig Sciences and Technologies - PST2025 on May 1st, 2025 in Dong Nai. The PST2025 topic is Environmental and Health Management in Pig Industry.

With its infancy, the VPO hopes to receive companionship and support from domestic and foreign organizations and individuals in order to build a healthy and sustainable pig industry in Vietnam.
