Increase in farms and wild boars affected by CSF in Japan

Since September there have been 6 pig farms affected and more than 90 positive wild boars.

Since the emergence of the disease last September, there are already 6 farms affected by classical swine fever (CSF), one of them with more than 7,000 susceptible animals. All the affected farms are located in the prefecture of Gifu.

Regarding the cases in wild boars, as of January 8th, 2019, 621 wild boars (65 dead and 556 captured) have been tested and 88 (32 dead and 56 captured) have tested positive for CSF by RT-PCR in the prefecture of Gifu after the confirmation of the first outbreak in September 2018. In the prefecture of Aichi, 29 wild boars have been tested, and 4 of them tested positive, whilst in the other 36 prefectures, 114 wild boars have been found dead and all of them tested negative for CSF.
