Pig slaughter increased by 3.5% in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same period last year, according to preliminary results from the Livestock Production Statistics service, released by IBGE. Compared to the fourth quarter of last year, the slaughter of pigs grew by 1.8%.
According to preliminary data, the number of pigs slaughtered in the quarter was 14.14 million.
The total weight of carcasses reached 1.29 million tons, an increase of 3.5% compared to the first quarter of 2022 and an increase of 1.3% compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.
