Increase in pork consumption in Portugal

According to the agricultural statistics in 2015, published by the National Statistical Institute of Portugal, pork production increased by 4.9% in 2015 in comparison with 2014.

Pork still was the most consumed meat, reaching 44.9 kg per capita in 2015 (1.3 kg more than in 2014).

The low prices of pork for the consumer conditioned the price of pigs, that were 13.3% lower than in 2014.
