Between January and October 2016, pig production for slaughter in the Russian farms has grown by 13.5% in terms of liveweight in comparison with the same period in 2015, amounting more than 2.8 million tonnes.
"The main increase in pig production has happened in the areas of Pskov, Tver, Voronezh, Chelyabinsk and the Republic of Bashkortostan. At the same time there has been a slight decrease in Tomsk, Murmansk, Perm and the Altai Republic", according to the director of Animal Husbandry and Breeding of the Ministry of Agriculture.
