Italy: drop in fresh meat consumption

In 2012 the fresh meat consumption fell by 1.8%, whilst the consumption of cold cuts rised by 2.5%.

According to the data of the Italian Statistics Institute (ISMEA) processed by the Italian Swine Farmers National Association (ANAS), in year 2012 a general drop by 1.8% in the consumption of fresh meat is seen in comparison with year 2011, whilst during the same period the consumption of cold cuts has increased by 2.5%.

The fresh meat retail prices experienced a slight fall by 0.1%, whilst the price in the case of the cold cuts rose by 1.9%.
