During 2014, Germany was the second most important destination of Parma ham, with an increase of the exports to Germany by 1,3%.
In particular, the Consorzio del Prosciutto di Parma registered, during 2014, an increase in the sales volume, in the German market, of sliced and packaged ham to be sold in supermarkets.
The commercialisation of packaged Parma ham represents 17% of the annual production of this product.
With a total of 8.8 million packages, during 2014 the equivalent to 167,000 hams was exported to Germany.
