Japan temporary suspends of imports of live pigs, pork from Sweden

Japan’s pork production will be steady and imports up slightly to meet stable demand in both its retail and food service sectors.

Several restrictions have been removed in the newly defined outer area.

Four cases have been found in Norberg and the remaining cases were in Fagersta.

Eighteen cases of African swine fever in wild boar have been confirmed in Sweden.

A case of African swine fever (ASF) has been confirmed in a dead wild boar in the municipality of Fagersta. This is the first case of ASF in Sweden.

High carcass prices and strong domestic retail demand will drive greater pork production. Recently lowered tariffs further incentivize imports of certain prepared pork products.
