A local government’s veterinary service found a cow showed typical clinical signs of FMD by surveillance on 4 July. The affected farm is in a movement control area around Miyazaki city. All susceptible animals in the farm were destroyed on 5 July.

Movement restrictions around Miyakonojo city, Hyuga city and Saito city were lifted on 2, 3 and 6 July 2010 respectively. The absences were demonstrated by serological surveillance targeted at all susceptible animals kept within 3km around affected farms and in epidemiological related farms with them as well as by clinical surveillance targeted at all susceptible animals in the areas.
