Kazakhstan: swine herd decrease

During the past year the number of pigs has decreased by 9.8% (132,800 head).

According to data from the Statistical Agency of Kazakhstan, as of January 1, 2012 the census amounted to 1.2233 million head. Considering that in early 2011 the census was 1,356,100 head, during the year the number of animals has decreased by 9.8% (132,800 head).

The largest decrease in the number of pigs occurred in northern regions with decreases of 22.1% (43 500 animals less), Pavlodar with a reduction of 21.4% (24,400 head less) and Kostanayskiy with a decrease of 16, 6% (51,100 fewer animals), while increases were detected in the Aktobe region (up 26%, 20,600 heads).
