Korea – Spectacular increase in importation of fresh and frozen pork

Throughout the first trimester of 2011, importation of fresh and frozen pork has increased by 39,9% with respect to the same period last year, going from 73.063 tons between January and March of 2010 to 102.205 tons in the first trimester of this year.

Throughout the first trimester of 2011, importation of fresh and frozen pork has increased by 39,9% with respect to the same period last year, going from 73.063 tons between January and March of 2010 to 102.205 tons in the first trimester of this year.

The increase can be seen in almost all the main countries that export to Korea, with an increase of 82,3% in importations coming from the United States, with a total of 35.804 tons, followed by Canada with an increase of 27,4% , reaching 18.645 tons and Spain (4th place in pork exporting countries that export to Korea, with an increase of 62,8% and a total of 6.651 tons exported to Korea) while Chile, in third place, has reduced its exports to Korea by 19%, going from 12.418 tons in the first trimester of 2010 to 10.053 tons in 2011.
