Lithuania: African Swine Fever detected in two hunted wild boars

The State Food and Veterinary Service informs that African swine fever was detected in two wild boars hunted in the area bordering the Šalčininkai and Alytus-Varėna regions.

The State Food and Veterinary Service informs that African swine fever (ASF) was detected in two wild boars hunted in the area bordering the Šalčininkai and Alytus-Varėna regions. The sampling and the testing was performed by specialists of the National State and Food Risk Assessment Institute.

The European Commission and the State Authorities of the neighbouring countries were immediately notified of the detected ASF. The State Food and Veterinary Service informs that a temporary ban has been imposed on the shipping of live pigs out of the established hazard zone, the intensive supervision of wild boars and pigs is continued.
