The State Food and Veterinary Service informs that seeking the implementation of prevention and protection measures against the African swine fever the placement of wild animal (wild boar) repellents is started in the border area with the Belarus Republic. On 1 October, first repellent holders have been placed in the 30 km stretch in Vilnius region.
The impact of the repellents is short-term, therefore, the period when the autumnal migration of wild-boars is the most intensive was chosen deliberately.
In the upcoming days the repellents are going to be placed in the most risky stretch at the border with the Belarus Republic, which is the closest to the officially confirmed epicentre of the African swine fever in the Hrodna district.
