The head of Agriculture, Victor Villalobos Arámbula, met virtually with representatives from various meat industries, who for the first time were brought together in a common front: United Mexico Animal Protein (MUPA), which aims to position this chain as an important axis of the national economy.

This new platform, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, will enable a joint effort in the post-pandemic stage, in which the agrifood chain will face new challenges.

Villalobos Arámbula indicated that joining forces is an smart move, since it will allow authorities and industry to be more assertive in decision-making for the benefit of the Mexican population. Promoting the consumption of animal protein will allow to reactivate different commercial activities in the domestic market and at the same time strengthen Mexico's international reputation as a supplier of top quality meat.

In this regard, he announced that the Government of Mexico will continue opening new export markets, as a result of the opportunities that arise in different regions of the world due to problems in food production.

MUPA has established close coordination with different levels of government to strengthen the actions of the meat sector in order to ensure the timely supply of livestock products. It will also participate in the elaboration of public policy proposals that contribute to maintaining Mexico's reputation in world meat trade.
