An MYR 400 million (USD 129 million) integrated pig farm in Pasir Puteh, Sarawak in East Malaysia, grouping about 72 farmers from Kuching and Samarahan divisions, will start operations next year.

The Pasir Puteh area is one of five built on a commercial scale in the country. Developed on a 80ha site, the facility is now 75% complete.

The farm is fully equipped with all necessary facilities for pigs and piglets breeding such nursery and breeding pens, fencing, gestation stalls, troughs, drinkers, and much more. The farm is also outfitted with automated feeding system, ventilation, heating and cooling systems and manure handling system.
Prospects
Currently, the farm owners are fencing pastures to give the pigs an added benefit of natural grazing. They also plan to update farm facilities to enhance productivity and satisfy the increasing demand for pork. In second half of 2012 increase in demand for pork is expected, which will mean more profits for all involved in this business.  This project allows investors supporting farmers towards a more just, sustainable, and delicious future.
