Meat production increase in Germany

Pork production reached 2.76 million tonnes: 67,000 tonnes more (+ 2,5%).

During the first semester of 2015, and according to the data of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), meat production in the German abattoirs reached 4.07 million tonnes, which entails an increase of some 80,000 tonnes (or + 2.0%) with respect to the same period in 2014. The previous record during the first semester of a year was reached in 2011, with 4.01 million tonnes.

Pork production reached 2.76 million tonnes: 67,000 tonnes (+ 2,5%) more than in the same period of 2104. So, pork production had a decisive impact on the total meat production increase. Also, the number of slaughtered pigs (29.3 million) has entailed a new record (+ 673,400 pigs or + 2.3%).
