The National Association of Federal Inspection Type Establishments (ANETIF) and the China Meat Association (CMA) signed a memorandum of understanding for the rapprochement of companies from both countries in order to increase exports of meat products to China.
The president of ANETIF, Jesús Huerta Urquides, highlighted that Mexican meat has been well accepted in the Chinese market, so he hopes that growth will favor the meat industry.
Mexico's ambassador to China, Jesús Seade, said that over the last five years Mexico's agricultural, fishing, and agroindustrial exports to China have grown steadily. China has become the second leading destination for Mexican exports, behind Japan and ahead of the United States, with shipments worth over 198 million dollars, representing 32% of Mexico's pork product exports.
The Mexican companies that export pork to China are: Kekén, Kowi, SASA, Soles and Norson, and there are four companies awaiting authorization from the Chinese government. The companies are located in the states of Sonora and Yucatán and export mainly to Japan, the United States, South Korea, Canada, the United Kingdom, and China.
