Mexican pork exports fell 6% in the first 7 months 2024

Shipments to most destinations decreased. Canada and South Korea show the greatest declines.

Imports

  • Pork imports in the first 7 months of the year totaled 967,038 tons (t), an increase of 7.2% compared to the same period of the previous year.
  • The total value reached USD 2057.8 million, resulting in an implicit price of USD 2128/t, an increase of 6.6% compared to the average recorded in the same period of 2023 (USD 1996/t).
  • Approximately 11,529 tons of pork have been imported from Chile and 14,618 tons from Brazil.

Exports

  • Pork exports for the January-July 2024 period fell by 6.0% compared to the same period in 2023, going from 123,324 to 115,950 tons.
  • Export value (USD 491.6 million) increased by 1.6% and the average export price was USD 4240/t, which is 8.2% higher than the average of USD 3920/t recorded in the first 7 months of 2023.
