Mexico's agri-food and fishery exports to China during the first half of the year totaled 399 million dollars, an increase of 16.4% compared to the same period in 2020, when they totaled 342.8 million dollars, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Pork sales were first in the ranking of agri-food product exports, with sales of 139.9 million dollars, an increase of 9.0% in terms of value, and 18% in volume (51,739 tons), according to figures from the Department of Agriculture in Japan.

The federal agency indicated that negotiations between China's General Administration of Customs and Mexico's National Agri-Food Safety and Quality Service (Senasica) regarding pork are progressing in updating the existing bilateral protocol.

The aim is to include pork viscera in the list of products allowed for export to China and to authorize new Federal Inspection Type Establishments (TIF) to be able to send shipments to that destination.
