The agriculture, livestock and fishing production of Mexico exceeded, last year, 220.45 million tonnes of agriculture, livestock and fishing products, with which the generation of supplies increased by 5.3% with respect to 2015, according to the information of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA).
The report points out that the agricultural production in 2016 had an estimated growth by 5.6%, going from 187.634 million tonnes to 198.203 million tonnes, that reflect a rise by 10.5 million tonnes. It also shows that all the crop groups increased their production: cereals and oilseeds by 10.7%; fodder by 7.5%; fruit by 6.5%; vegetables by 2.3%; and agroindustrial crops by 1.1%.
Regarding the livestock production, it increased by 2.3%, reaching 20.648 million tonnes. The production of eggs rose by 2.6%; cow milk by 1.9%; beef by 1.8%; pork by 4.1%; and fowl by 3.9%. In terms of volume these growths amount: eggs 2.70 million tonnes; cow milk 11.27 million tonnes; beef 1.88 million tonnes; pork 1.38 million tonnes; and fowl 2.77 million tonnes.
Finally, regarding the fishing sector, the SIAP pointed out that its production was 1.69 million tonnes.
