Civils servants of the Ministry of Agriculture, Stockbreeding, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) of Mexico, of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agri-Food of Canada, producers, manufacturers and professors agreed on strengthening the strategic association of the private and public sectors to increase the competitiveness of the two countries and of North America as a whole.

The goal is to strengthen market opportunities, and facilitate and encourage the cooperation, investment and trade of food and agriculture products.

The Agribussinesses Group of the Mexican-Canadian Alliance is a quadripartite network comprised of public institutions, producers and representatives of the food and agriculture industry of both countries.

During the tenth meeting of this group, cross-cutting themes related to agricultural sustainability and investigation, new technologies, and analysis of the non-tariff barriers to trade were discussed.

Among the agreements reached we must highlight the speeding up of those related to the implementation of the electronic certification for the exchange of agriculture and livestock products with high health safety standards, with which the transactions will accelerate.
