The World Assembly of Delegates of the World Oranisation for Animal Health (Office International des Épizooties, OIE in French) chose, for the first time, Mexico as a Member of the OIE Council (180 countries in the world make it up) for the next three years.
In the same way, the 180 delegates of the OIE member countries chose the director of the National Centre for Animal Health Diagnosis Services (CENASA) of the SENASICA, Mr. Juan Antonio Montaño, as a member of the Scientific Commission, also made up by the delegates of Italy (Ms. Sylvia Bellini) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Mr. Baptiste Dungu).
For Mexico, being a part of the OIE Council means the chance to support and promote the “A single health” concept approach, a viewpoint that allows to tackle animal and public health integrally at a worldwide level.
