The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA), Mr. José Calzada Rovirosa, informed that during the third trimester of 2016 the food and agriculture sector has made exports for some USD22,000 million. These exports are historic and they confirm that USD 30,000 milliom may be reached by the end of 2016, with a surplus in the trade balance quite higher than expected.
This surplus in the food and agriculture sector, that is expected to be of between USD4,000 million and USD4,200million at the end of 2016, reflects the efforts of all the producers in this sector and also the investments made in terms of technification and the science applied to the fields.
Mr. Calzada Rovirosa explained that the budget alloted to the SAGARP in 2017, that amounts some 71 million pesos, will help to go on with the economic growth in the sector that, according to the Bank of Mexico, was 4.8% as of the third trimester of 2016.
