In order to facilitate negotiations between Mexico and China to expand exports of fresh beef and pork to China, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development together with the livestock industry are physically evaluating establishments and checking their documentation to make sure they comply with the required sanitary and safety provisions.
During July, technicians from the National Service for Agri-Food Health, Safety and Quality (Senasica) will validate the 40 federally inspected (TIF) establishments that registered to participate in the expansion of the Export Protocol and will send the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) photographic and video evidence that demonstrates compliance with the regulations.
In a videoconference with representatives from the Mexican meat industry, the head of Agriculture, Victor Villalobos Arámbula, stressed the need for synergy in order to begin this year's exports of fresh beef and pork to China.
Currently, Mexico exports frozen beef and pork to China by ship, so expanding to fresh chilled meat, sent by air, would be a major step forward for Mexican farmers.
