Mexico foresees an increase in meat production

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Mexico (SADER), meat production (in carcass weight) in 2019 could exceed 7 million tonnes, this representing an increase by 1.9%.

According to the data provided by the Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Information System (SIAP), it is expected that fowl production has a share in the meat susbsector of 50%, more or less, followed by beef and pork, with shares of 28.8% and 22%, respectively.

The report highlights that the production of fowl carcasses will reach 3,342,000 tonnes; followed by beef, with 2,030,000 tonnes; and pork, with 1,546,000 tonnes.

In comparison with 2018, we must highlight the estimated growth of pork production by 3%.

The expectations for the different Mexican states show that Jalisco has a share of 21.2% in pork production.
