The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported that the demand for Mexican pork in the United States remained on the rise during the first four months of 2022, which caused exports to this destination to increase.
According to information from the Mexican Pork Producers Organization (Opormex), during the first fifteen weeks of 2022, Mexican pork exports reached 14,624 tons, which represents an average growth of 0.85% per week compared to last year, when the average growth was 0.27%.
With this rebound, the Mexican pork sector has displaced its Danish counterpart, which now ranks third as an exporter to the United States, with the sale of 14,000 tons in the same period.
According to the entity, the sanitary status of Mexican livestock allows for more and more markets to open to Mexican pig farmers, who each year sell more than 250,000 tons of products in countries such as Japan, the United States, Singapore, Canada, South Korea, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Chile and China.
