After the elimination, by the US President Donald Trump, of the U.S. tariffs imposed last summer on Mexican and Canadian steel and aluminum, the Ministry of Economy of Mexico, through the publication of a Decree, has decided to eliminate retaliatory tariffs imposed on the 5 June 2018 to certain American products among which was pork.

Last year, Mexico responded to U.S. tariffs on steel by slapping duties on a variety of agricultural goods including pork.

The Government of Canada has also decided to remove tit-for-tat tariffs they imposed on a variety of American products.
