Along with academic and scientific organizations and producers, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development supports the campaign, National Action Strategy Against Antimicrobial Resistance (RAM) in order to promote the rational use of antimicrobial drugs.

The strategy encourages collaborative inter-secretarial work with the aim of reducing the incidence of antimicrobial resistance in the public health, agriculture, and environmental sectors. The National Service for Agrifood Health, Safety and Quality (SENASICA) works to improve veterinarians' ability to treat infectious diseases.

In the livestock sector, veterinarians and producers use more than three thousand antimicrobial products, mainly for the control of Salmonella spp, Escherichia coli, Enterococcus ssp and Campylobacter spp.

Senasica has a microsite where recommendations are available for veterinarians, producers, and consumers, allowing the service to meet its objective of teaching about the appropriate use of antimicrobials in order to achieve a 20 percent increase in awareness of the issue among the population.
