Missouri makes it a felony to interfere with livestock transportation

This affects movements longer than 8 hours of equids and domestic bovine, ovine, caprine, and porcine animals.

The European Court of Auditors has just published a report on the transport of animals within the EU. According to the Court, regional differences in costs encourage the transport of animals in the EU and Member States apply the rules unequally.

This should ensure that the risk of animal welfare violations during transport is reduced.

New, more stringent requirements will apply to record keeping, emergency procedures, exit point facilities, and approval of livestock vessels to transport animals.

The objective of the revision should be to facilitate intra-Community trade and the export of live animals but not to prohibit or limit certain types of transport.
