Mongolia reports first case of ASF in four years

Two domestic swine farms have been affected by African swine fever.

On July 29, 2023, an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) occurred on a pig farm with 135 susceptible animals in Bayan-Öndör, Orhon. Prior to this, the last outbreak reported to WOAH occurred in March 2019.

Another outbreak occurred on August 8, 2023, on a farm in Orkhon, Bulgan with 216 susceptible animals. This is located approximately 70 km away from the previously mentioned outbreak.
