The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) celebrated Myanmar opening its market to Brazilian pork, according to information from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.
The opening of the market already has an International Health Certificate (CSI) published in the system of the Brazilian Ministry.
As a country with 53 million inhabitants, Myanmar is an expanding market on the Asian continent, with a young population and strong economic growth - around 7% per year in the last decade. The country's average per capita consumption is 17.5 kilograms of pork per year.
According to ABPA President, Francisco Turra, Myanmar is one of the nations in Asia that has suffered from losses generated by African swine fever, with a direct impact on the local supply of animal protein.
“In this context, Brazil, which is already a partner of the Asian country for the supply of chicken meat, now also consolidates its position in the pork sector. The confidence of the Myanmar authorities is yet another seal of quality for Brazilian products,” says Turra.
