As was the case in September, the use of an exchange rate 40% higher than the official rate to liquidate oilseeds temporarily allows farmers to receive a better price from exporters. However, poultry, cattle, and swine farmers are seriously affected, since it increases the cost of feeding these animals.

In view of this situation, the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation, Juan José Bahillo, met with representatives of the chambers of swine, poultry, and cattle producers as well as with chambers of extruders of the provinces of Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Entre Ríos, and Santa Fe to work on measures for the supply of soybean by-products within the framework of the Export Increase Program 2.

The second stage of the Export Increase Program is aimed at increasing the country's exports with a focus on strengthening the Central Bank's reserves as well as improving the activity indexes of the Argentine agroindustrial sector. As part of this new initiative of the National Government, specific measures are contemplated for the soybean chain in order to avoid shortages for producers as well as unjustified price increases.
