As of July 1 the Dutch government will only recognize the QLL quality system (Quality system Livestock Logistics) for transport and centers for animal collection, meaning that the use of all other certification systems will be abandoned.

The new system has as its objective the guaranteeing of animal welfare and preventing the propagation of disease during transport or in collection centers. From now on a zero tolerance policy will be in place regarding overloading, and the number of animals per truck will be decreased (instead of transporting 234 pigs per trailer, a maximum of 216-220 head will be permitted).
