The previous extension on the secure Black Sea corridor was due to end today and there was some uncertainty as to what would happen.

Finally yesterday, Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who led the negotiations, announced that the agreement to export cereals from Ukraine through the Black Sea corridor was being extended for two more months.

According to the UN, under the Black Sea Initiative, more than 30 million tons of food have been exported. Vital food supplies are reaching some of the world's most vulnerable people and places. Over the past year, markets have stabilized, volatility has been reduced, and world food prices have fallen by 20 percent.
