Nicaragua pork production increases

Over the last 5 years, Nicaragua has shown steady growth in pig production.

Last year Nicaragua slaughtered 259,427 pigs, an increase of 10% compared to 2018 and 8% higher than 2017.

During the last 5 years, Nicaragua's pork production has shown a sustained average growth of 8% year-on-year and a 49% growth when compared to 2014. Pork production was 13,400 tons, an increase of 8.3% over the previous year and 9.6% over 2017.

In relation to the data from the first two months of this year, 40,710 pigs have been slaughtered, resulting in 2131 tons of pork produced, an increase of 2.4% over the same period last year.
